Auction result well in line with expectations
The work General Major G. W. af Tibell and a lady; he, in profile to the left in blue coat with pink-bordered blue collar, white armlet, black stock, dark hair and long sideburns; and she, in profile to the left in white dress, sprigged stole draped over her by Jacob Axel Gillberg was sold in the Miniatures auction at Christies in London in May 2000. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 411.25 (€ 659.90) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob Axel Gillberg achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A young Hussar, facing right in fur-bordered blue coat with gold brocade, white ribbon tied on his left elbow, red waistcoat with gold loops, blue and gold sash, lace cravat and black stock, fair hair dressed in plaits, beard in November 200
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit General Major G. W. af Tibell and a lady; he, in profile to the left in blue coat with pink-bordered blue collar, white armlet, black stock, dark hair and long sideburns; and she, in profile to the left in white dress, sprigged stole draped over her von Jacob Axel Gillberg wurde im Mai 2000 in der Auktion Miniatures bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 411,25 (€ 659,90) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
