This artwork by Jacob Axel Gillberg achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May 2020. In the Old Masters including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection auction, the work Portrait Of A Young Boy sold for GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,607.86) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jacob Axel Gillberg; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A young Hussar, facing right in fur-bordered blue coat with gold brocade, white ribbon tied on his left elbow, red waistcoat with gold loops, blue and gold sash, lace cravat and black stock, fair hair dressed in plaits, beard sold at auction in November 2001 with the realized price of GBP 4,465.00 (€ 7,105.22).
