Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Untitled Greeting Card by Jackson Pollock was auctioned at Christies in New York in November this year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 3,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at USD 12,600.00 (€ 11,551.16). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jackson Pollock achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Number 17, 1951 in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 61,161,000.00 (€ 54,187,117.92).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Untitled Greeting Card von Jackson Pollock im November diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 3.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 12.600,00 (€ 11.551,16) mehr als viermal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jackson Pollock erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Number 17, 1951 im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 61.161.000,00 (€ 54.187.117,92).
