Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Dawn, Brown'S Bank by Jack Lorimer Gray was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2009, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 37,500.00 (€ 28,278.41). Admittedly, works by Jack Lorimer Gray have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Running Before The Trades in June 2013 with an auction result of GBP 145,875.00 (€ 170,262.25).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Dawn, Brown'S Bank von Jack Lorimer Gray im März 2009 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 37.500,00 (€ 28.278,41) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jack Lorimer Gray auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Running Before The Trades im Juni 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 145.875,00 (€ 170.262,25).
