It achieved a price of GBP 780.00 (€ 1,142.02), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 56%. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ivan Varichev; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The village shop; and Fetching water sold at auction in December 2006 with the realized price of GBP 900.00 (€ 1,335.71).
