Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2020 Christies in London held the auction First Open: Post-War & Contemporary Art Online, which included this untitled work by Ibrahim Mahama. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 4,879.98) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ibrahim Mahama achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ghanaianchale Wote in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 75,000.00 (€ 85,391.64).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2020 führte Christies in London die Auktion First Open: Post-War & Contemporary Art Online durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Ibrahim Mahama zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 4.375,00 (€ 4.879,98) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ibrahim Mahama erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Ghanaianchale Wote im März 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 75.000,00 (€ 85.391,64).
