Auction result well in line with expectations
In October last year Christies in London held the auction A Place With No Name: Works from the Sina Jina Collection, which included the work Samsia Tahida by Ibrahim Mahama. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 25,200.00 (€ 29,357.72) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ibrahim Mahama - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Ghanaianchale Wote, which sold at auction in March 2018 for GBP 75,000.00 (€ 85,391.64).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober letzten Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion A Place With No Name: Works from the Sina Jina Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Samsia Tahida von Ibrahim Mahama zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 25.200,00 (€ 29.357,72) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Ibrahim Mahama mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Ghanaianchale Wote beobachtet, die im März 2018 für GBP 75.000,00 (€ 85.391,64) versteigert wurde.
