Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work BK X by Ibrahim Mahama was auctioned at Phillips in London in June 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 18,750.00 (€ 21,077.78). Admittedly, works by Ibrahim Mahama have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ghanaianchale Wote in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 75,000.00 (€ 85,391.64).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit BK X von Ibrahim Mahama im Juni 2019 bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 18.750,00 (€ 21.077,78) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ibrahim Mahama auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ghanaianchale Wote im März 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 75.000,00 (€ 85.391,64).
