In April 2005 Christies in Melbourne held the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, which included the work Hobbling Out The Plugs by Hugh Sawrey. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 11,352.50 (€ 6,884.08), 62% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hugh Sawrey - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Australian Shearing On The Boards At Bindi-Bango, which sold at auction in August 2007 for AUD 45,600.00 (€ 27,267.74).

Im April 2005 führte Christies in Melbourne die Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Hobbling Out The Plugs von Hugh Sawrey zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 11.352,50 (€ 6.884,08) und damit 62% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Hugh Sawrey mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Australian Shearing On The Boards At Bindi-Bango beobachtet, die im August 2007 für AUD 45.600,00 (€ 27.267,74) versteigert wurde.
