In April 2006 Christies in Melbourne held the auction Australian, International & Contemporary Paintings Part II, which included the work Territory Ringers by Hugh Sawrey. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 9,560.00 (€ 5,750.09), 20% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Hugh Sawrey have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Australian Shearing On The Boards At Bindi-Bango in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 45,600.00 (€ 27,267.74).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im April 2006 führte Christies in Melbourne die Auktion Australian, International & Contemporary Paintings Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Territory Ringers von Hugh Sawrey zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 9.560,00 (€ 5.750,09) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hugh Sawrey auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Australian Shearing On The Boards At Bindi-Bango im August 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 45.600,00 (€ 27.267,74).
