In September 2000 Christies in New York held the auction JAPANESE AND KOREAN ART, which included the work Kozue (Aka) (Treetop red) Fuyu kodachi (Winter grove) Yukei (Evening view) Wakaba (Fresh Verdure) by Hoshi Joichi. The »bidding war« ended at USD 3,055.00 (€ 3,457.06), 22% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Hoshi Joichi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Shuko (Autumn light), which sold at auction in September 2000 for USD 8,225.00 (€ 9,307.46).
