Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Castle Berg by Herbert George Ponting was auctioned at Christies in London in April 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,750.00 (€ 2,130.16) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Herbert George Ponting achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-13: Ponting's three master albums of contact prints in September 2010 with an auction result of GBP 169,250.00 (€ 195,755.59).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Castle Berg von Herbert George Ponting kam im April 2014 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.750,00 (€ 2.130,16) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Herbert George Ponting erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-13: Ponting's three master albums of contact prints im September 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 169.250,00 (€ 195.755,59).
