We went for a Picnic at Pott Shrigley
signed and with a fly 'HELEN BRADLEY' (lower right), signed again, inscribed and dated 'We went for a Picnic to Pott Shrigley on a/lovely Summers Day. As we drove along in/the wagonette Mother would say that she hoped/our favourite field wouldn't have cows/in it and all the ladies declared that/they couldn't eat those delicious sandwiches/with cows round them, and whatever/should we do if there was a Bull as/well, but when we got there the gate was/open, so everyone helped to unpack the/food and tie Fanny to a tree. It was June/and after tea we gathered bunches of Wild/Roses and honeysuckle and listened to the/Cuckoo calling. Coming home through the quiet/country lanes Mother, Aunt Mary & Aunt Frances/softly sang .. Now the Day is over, Stars begin to peep-/Birds and Beasts and Flowers, soon will/be asleep/and so were George and I and the year was 1906./Helen Layfield Bradley, 1973' (on a label attached to the backboard) and signed again and dedicated 'To Sheila/Happy Christmas/from/He

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work We went for a Picnic at Pott Shrigley by Helen Layfield Bradley was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2012. The price achieved of GBP 34,850.00 (€ 41,778.70) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Helen Layfield Bradley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Our First Morning in Blackpool, which sold at auction in November 2007 for GBP 94,100.00 (€ 131,764.35).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 34.850,00 (€ 41.778,70) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Helen Layfield Bradley mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Our First Morning in Blackpool beobachtet, die im November 2007 für GBP 94.100,00 (€ 131.764,35) versteigert wurde.
