This artwork by Harry Clarke achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2008. In the The Irish Sale auction, the work Silence sold for GBP 17,300.00 (€ 22,006.36) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Harry Clarke have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Mother of Sorrows, Memorial to Sister Superior Mary of Saint Wilfrid, Principal of Dowanhill Training College, Glasgow, 1926 in May 2002 with an auction result of GBP 65,725.00 (€ 102,926.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Harry Clarke erzielte im Mai 2008 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Irish Sale wurde die Arbeit Silence für GBP 17.300,00 (€ 22.006,36) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 8.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Harry Clarke auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Mother of Sorrows, Memorial to Sister Superior Mary of Saint Wilfrid, Principal of Dowanhill Training College, Glasgow, 1926 im Mai 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 65.725,00 (€ 102.926,24).
