The work Pines Among Lofty Mountains by Guan Si was worth USD 401,000.00 (€ 352,063.21) to a buyer in March 2016. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Paintings at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 50,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Guan Si; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Poetic Gathering sold at auction in October 2016 with the realized price of HKD 4,720,000.00 (€ 555,446.09).
