Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Rome, A View Of The Forum Looking Towards The Capitol by Giovanni Paolo Panini was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 212,500.00 (€ 239,137.62) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Paolo Panini achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Rome, The Pantheon, A View Of The Interior Towards The Piazza Della Rotonda in January 2015 with an auction result of USD 5,317,000.00 (€ 4,709,477.41).
