Auction result misses estimated price range
In January this year a collector was able to acquire the work A capriccio of classical ruins with the Maison Carrée at Nîmes, the Temple of the Sybil at Tivoli, the Pont du Gard near Nîmes and the Borghese vase by Giovanni Paolo Panini for USD 189,000.00 (€ 174,065.21). This price was achieved in the auction Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E. Safra - Selling Without Reserve at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00 Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Paolo Panini achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Rome, The Pantheon, A View Of The Interior Towards The Piazza Della Rotonda in January 2015 with an auction result of USD 5,317,000.00 (€ 4,709,477.41).
