Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A capriccio with the Temple of Vesta, and figures among ruins by Giovanni Paolo Panini was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 15,120.00 (€ 12,459.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Paolo Panini achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Rome, The Pantheon, A View Of The Interior Towards The Piazza Della Rotonda in January 2015 with an auction result of USD 5,317,000.00 (€ 4,709,477.41).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 15.120,00 (€ 12.459,83) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
