In June 2014 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Curated, which included the work For God So Loved The World That He Sent His Only Begotten Son That Who So Ever Believes In Him Should Not Perish But Have Eternal Life (From: Signs That Say What You Want Them To Say And Not Signs That Say What Someone Else Wants You To Say) by Gillian Wearing. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,063.00 (€ 2,967.86), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gillian Wearing achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Self-Portrait at 17 Years Old (from Album) in May last year with an auction result of USD 63,000.00 (€ 58,708.41).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im Juni 2014 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Curated durch, in der auch die Arbeit For God So Loved The World That He Sent His Only Begotten Son That Who So Ever Believes In Him Should Not Perish But Have Eternal Life (From: Signs That Say What You Want Them To Say And Not Signs That Say What Someone Else Wants You To Say) von Gillian Wearing zur Versteigerung kam.
