Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2007 a collector was able to acquire the work Caricatures of Aristocratic Life: Three Plates by George Cruikshank for USD 360.00 (€ 276.97). This price was achieved in the auction The House Sale at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 600.00 – 800.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Cruikshank achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Study for 'The Highland Whisky-Still' in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 7,409.00 (€ 10,816.91).
