Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by George Cruikshank could be acquired at Sothebys in London in December 2012 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Art of Illustration - From the Collection of Michael Winner auction, the work The Outraged Husband changed hands for GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,774.87) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Cruikshank - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Study for 'The Highland Whisky-Still', which sold at auction in February 2003 for GBP 7,409.00 (€ 10,816.91).
