Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2004 a collector was able to acquire the work Landing in Elba by George Cruikshank for USD 59.75 (€ 44.14). This price was achieved in the auction THE HOUSE SALE at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 200.00 – 300.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Cruikshank achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Study for 'The Highland Whisky-Still' in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 7,409.00 (€ 10,816.91).
