Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2008 Christies in London held the auction Victorian & Traditionalist Pictures, which included the work Travellers resting on a river bank in an upland landscape by George Cole. The price achieved of GBP 2,500.00 (€ 3,161.00) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Cole achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Carting the Ripe Harvest, Coombe in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 84,600.00 (€ 90,694.68).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian & Traditionalist Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Travellers resting on a river bank in an upland landscape von George Cole zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 2.500,00 (€ 3.161,00) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Cole erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Carting the Ripe Harvest, Coombe im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 84.600,00 (€ 90.694,68).
