In June 2009 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master & 19th Century European Art, which included the work A River In Wales by George Cole. The result of USD 5,000.00 (€ 3,566.33) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Cole achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Carting the Ripe Harvest, Coombe in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 84,600.00 (€ 90,694.68).

Im Juni 2009 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Master & 19th Century European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A River In Wales von George Cole zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 5.000,00 (€ 3.566,33) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Cole erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Carting the Ripe Harvest, Coombe im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 84.600,00 (€ 90.694,68).
