Upper estimate price exceeded by 39 %.
In July 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Prints and Multiples Online, which included the work Graf Zeppelin by Gene Davis. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,500.00 (€ 2,135.66), 39% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gene Davis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Legato In Red in September 2019 with an auction result of USD 187,500.00 (€ 171,939.48).
