Auction result well in line with expectations
In November this year Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts held the auction Modern & Contemporary Art | Bonhams Skinner, which included the work Untitled 40 1/4 x 28 in. (102.2 x 71.1 cm) framed 42 1/2 x 30 3/4 x 1 1/2 in. by Gene Davis. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,200.00 (€ 2,933.63) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gene Davis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Legato In Red in September 2019 with an auction result of USD 187,500.00 (€ 171,939.48).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts die Auktion Modern & Contemporary Art | Bonhams Skinner durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled 40 1/4 x 28 in. (102.2 x 71.1 cm) framed 42 1/2 x 30 3/4 x 1 1/2 in. von Gene Davis zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.200,00 (€ 2.933,63) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gene Davis erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Legato In Red im September 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 187.500,00 (€ 171.939,48).
