Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Nostalgie by Gao Xingjian was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 150,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 187,500.00 (€ 21,342.96) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gao Xingjian - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work By the Lake, which sold at auction in November 2016 for HKD 475,000.00 (€ 57,881.92).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Nostalgie von Gao Xingjian kam im April 2019 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 150.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 187.500,00 (€ 21.342,96) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Gao Xingjian mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit By the Lake beobachtet, die im November 2016 für HKD 475.000,00 (€ 57.881,92) versteigert wurde.
