This work of art by Frederic Church could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in May 2014 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Art auction, the work South American Landscape (Study For Chimborazo) changed hands for USD 275,000.00 (€ 201,612.90) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederic Church achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Valley Of Santa Isabel, New Granada in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 5,026,250.00 (€ 4,306,983.72).
