Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Franz West could be acquired at Christies in New York in November last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Eleven Kodustuhl and Four Dokustuhl Fifteen Chairs changed hands for USD 252,000.00 (€ 244,115.08) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Franz West - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in May 2017 for USD 871,500.00 (€ 775,631.90).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Franz West konnte im November letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale wechselte die Arbeit Eleven Kodustuhl and Four Dokustuhl Fifteen Chairs für USD 252.000,00 (€ 244.115,08) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 300.000,00 – 500.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Franz West mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im Mai 2017 für USD 871.500,00 (€ 775.631,90) versteigert wurde.
