Sold at the upper estimate price
The work The Beheading Of St. John The Baptist by Ferdinand Bol was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2016. The auction ended at the price of USD 150,000.00 (€ 138,478.58), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ferdinand Bol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of A Boy, Said To Be The Artist'S Son, Aged 8 in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 5,189,000.00 (€ 7,356,259.16).
