Auction result well in line with expectations
In May last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Day Auction, which included the work Portrait of Edith Schloss in Porter's Southampton Parlor by Fairfield Porter. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 252,000.00 (€ 234,833.66) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Fairfield Porter have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Schooner II in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 1,932,500.00 (€ 1,655,955.44).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Edith Schloss in Porter's Southampton Parlor von Fairfield Porter zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 252.000,00 (€ 234.833,66) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Fairfield Porter auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Schooner II im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.932.500,00 (€ 1.655.955,44).
