Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sketch For Vortex #2 by Esphyr Slobodkina was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,125.00 (€ 1,431.84). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Esphyr Slobodkina achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Toys in the Attic in July last year with an auction result of USD 69,300.00 (€ 67,927.86).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Sketch For Vortex #2 von Esphyr Slobodkina im Januar 2008 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.125,00 (€ 1.431,84) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Esphyr Slobodkina erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Toys in the Attic im Juli letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 69.300,00 (€ 67.927,86).
