Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work West Wind by Eric Sloane was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 8,750.00 (€ 7,982.12). Admittedly, works by Eric Sloane have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Vermont December in March 2008 with an auction result of USD 55,000.00 (€ 34,799.11).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit West Wind von Eric Sloane im Oktober 2016 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 8.750,00 (€ 7.982,12) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Eric Sloane auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Vermont December im März 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 55.000,00 (€ 34.799,11).
