Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Taos Mountain in Winter by Emil Bisttram was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in August 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,100.00 (€ 4,322.03). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Emil Bisttram achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Storm Over Taos (Stormy Mountain Scene) in December 2008 with an auction result of USD 68,500.00 (€ 49,213.31).
