Auction result well in line with expectations
In March last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Curated, which included the work Stained Cithairon by Elliott Hundley. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 50,400.00 (€ 45,434.06) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Elliott Hundley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Landslide, which sold at auction in September 2012 for USD 158,500.00 (€ 123,288.74).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Curated durch, in der auch die Arbeit Stained Cithairon von Elliott Hundley zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 50.400,00 (€ 45.434,06) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Elliott Hundley mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Landslide beobachtet, die im September 2012 für USD 158.500,00 (€ 123.288,74) versteigert wurde.
