Auction result well in line with expectations
In November last year Christies in New York held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale, which included this untitled work by Ellen Gallagher. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 50,400.00 (€ 48,823.02) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ellen Gallagher achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Deluxe in May 2013 with an auction result of USD 987,750.00 (€ 760,509.70).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Ellen Gallagher zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 50.400,00 (€ 48.823,02) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ellen Gallagher erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Deluxe im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 987.750,00 (€ 760.509,70).
