It achieved a price of AUD 12,915.00 (€ 7,830.93), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 29%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Elaine Haxton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Double Bay, which sold at auction in May 2001 for AUD 39,950.00 (€ 23,946.37).

Die Arbeit Self Portrait, Clareville, 1969 von Elaine Haxton kam im November diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Sydney zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von AUD 12.915,00 (€ 7.830,93) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 29%. Für andere Arbeiten von Elaine Haxton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Double Bay beobachtet, die im Mai 2001 für AUD 39.950,00 (€ 23.946,37) versteigert wurde.
