Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Self Portrait, Claireville by Elaine Haxton was sold in the The Fred and Elinor Wrobel CollectionThe Artist's Eye auction at Bonhams in New York in August this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 2,214.00 (€ 1,321.17) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Elaine Haxton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Double Bay in May 2001 with an auction result of AUD 39,950.00 (€ 23,946.37).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 2.214,00 (€ 1.321,17) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
