Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Kate Hodgkinson Eating Fruit, c.1955 by Elaine Haxton was sold in the Important Australian Art auction at Bonhams in Sidney in May last year. The price achieved of AUD 11,070.00 (€ 10,315.91) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 9,000.00 – 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Elaine Haxton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Double Bay, which sold at auction in May 2001 for AUD 39,950.00 (€ 23,946.37).
