Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Die Plastische Gestaltung der Elektro-Mechanischen Schau 'Sieg über die Sonne' by El Lissitzky was auctioned at Christies in New York in April this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 138,600.00 (€ 125,543.48). Admittedly, works by El Lissitzky have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Self-Portrait ('The Constructor') in March 2019 with an auction result of GBP 947,250.00 (€ 1,099,444.42).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Die Plastische Gestaltung der Elektro-Mechanischen Schau 'Sieg über die Sonne' von El Lissitzky im April diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 138.600,00 (€ 125.543,48) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von El Lissitzky auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Self-Portrait ('The Constructor') im März 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 947.250,00 (€ 1.099.444,42).
