A top price for El Lissitzky - as previously expected
In March 2019 Christies in London held the auction Masterpieces of Design and Photography, which included the work Self-Portrait ('The Constructor') by El Lissitzky. The price achieved of GBP 947,250.00 (€ 1,099,444.42) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800,000.00 – 1,200,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Self-Portrait ('The Constructor') is the most expensive artwork by El Lissitzky that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis mit Ansage
Im März 2019 führte Christies in London die Auktion Masterpieces of Design and Photography durch, in der auch die Arbeit Self-Portrait ('The Constructor') von El Lissitzky zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 947.250,00 (€ 1.099.444,42) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 800.000,00 – 1.200.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Self-Portrait ('The Constructor') das teuerste Kunstwerk von El Lissitzky, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
