The »bidding war« ended at GBP 11,475.00 (€ 12,809.97), 64% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Edward Matthew Ward have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Last Parting Of Marie Antoinette And Her Son in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 92,500.00 (€ 119,078.18).

Die Arbeit The last parting of Marie Antoinette and her son von Edward Matthew Ward wurde im November 2020 in der Auktion British and European Art bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 11.475,00 (€ 12.809,97) und damit 64% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edward Matthew Ward auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Last Parting Of Marie Antoinette And Her Son im Dezember 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 92.500,00 (€ 119.078,18).
