Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2018 Christies in London held the auction British Art: Victorian, Pre Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, which included the work The return from flight: Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette, the Dauphin, Dauphiness, and Princess Elizabeth insulted by the mob on their road back to Paris after their interception at Varennes by the postmaster Drouet by Edward Matthew Ward. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 32,500.00 (€ 36,207.88) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Matthew Ward - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Last Parting Of Marie Antoinette And Her Son, which sold at auction in December 2014 for GBP 92,500.00 (€ 119,078.18).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2018 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Art: Victorian, Pre Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The return from flight: Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette, the Dauphin, Dauphiness, and Princess Elizabeth insulted by the mob on their road back to Paris after their interception at Varennes by the postmaster Drouet von Edward Matthew Ward zur Versteigerung kam.
