Auction result well in line with expectations
The work King Lear and Cordelia by Edward Matthew Ward was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2021. The price achieved of GBP 37,800.00 (€ 44,328.34) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Matthew Ward - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Last Parting Of Marie Antoinette And Her Son, which sold at auction in December 2014 for GBP 92,500.00 (€ 119,078.18).
