Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Charlotte Corday in the prison of the Conciergerie, while preparing for execution by Edward Matthew Ward was auctioned at Bonhams in London in March last year. The price achieved of GBP 1,020.00 (€ 1,209.32) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Matthew Ward achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Last Parting Of Marie Antoinette And Her Son in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 92,500.00 (€ 119,078.18).
