In November last year Bonhams in New York held the auction Modern & Contemporary Prints & Multiples, which included the work Bateau bleu (The Grotto) by Dorothea Tanning. The »bidding war« ended at USD 5,737.50 (€ 5,557.98), 64% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dorothea Tanning achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le mal oublié in May last year with an auction result of USD 1,440,000.00 (€ 1,341,906.63).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 64 % übertroffen
Im November letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion Modern & Contemporary Prints & Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit Bateau bleu (The Grotto) von Dorothea Tanning zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 5.737,50 (€ 5.557,98) und damit 64% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Dorothea Tanning erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le mal oublié im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.440.000,00 (€ 1.341.906,63).
