Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2009 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Australian Aztecs by Dick Watkins. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 10,800.00 (€ 6,349.53) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Dick Watkins have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in November 2018 the work Circus, 1981-84 was auctioned for AUD 13,420.00 (€ 11,851.98).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2009 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian Aztecs von Dick Watkins zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 10.800,00 (€ 6.349,53) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Andere Arbeiten von Dick Watkins konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im November 2018 die Arbeit Circus, 1981-84 für AUD 13.420,00 (€ 11.851,98) versteigert.
