Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Barnett Newman: Paintings in Scale by David Diao was auctioned at POLY in Hong Kong in October 2015. The price achieved of HKD 590,000.00 (€ 68,927.73) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 500,000.00 – 700,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David Diao - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Twin Dragons, which sold at auction in May 2019 for HKD 1,250,000.00 (€ 143,062.16).

Die Arbeit Barnett Newman: Paintings in Scale von David Diao kam im Oktober 2015 bei POLY in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von HKD 590.000,00 (€ 68.927,73) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit HKD 500.000,00 – 700.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von David Diao mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Twin Dragons beobachtet, die im Mai 2019 für HKD 1.250.000,00 (€ 143.062,16) versteigert wurde.
