Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Mother Tongue by David Salle was auctioned at Phillips in London in March this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 63,500.00 (€ 72,243.52). Admittedly, works by David Salle have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mingus in Mexico in October 2017 with an auction result of GBP 608,750.00 (€ 694,094.16).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Mother Tongue von David Salle im März diesen Jahres bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 63.500,00 (€ 72.243,52) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von David Salle auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Mingus in Mexico im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 608.750,00 (€ 694.094,16).
