Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Largo harbour; Anstruther; and Stonehaven harbour by David Martin was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2003. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,175.00 (€ 1,702.13) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Martin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of James, 3rd Earl of Hopetoun (1741-1817), three-quarter-length, in a cream suit, seated at a desk reading; and Portrait of his wife, Lady Elizabeth Carnegie, Countess of Hopetoun (d. 1793), three-quarter-length, in a blue dress, seated wit in October 2001 with an auction result of USD 23,500.00 (€ 26,131.4
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of James, 3rd Earl of Hopetoun (1741-1817), three-quarter-length, in a cream suit, seated at a desk reading; and Portrait of his wife, Lady Elizabeth Carnegie, Countess of Hopetoun (d. 1793), three-quarter-length, in a blue dress, seated wit im Oktober 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 23.500,00 (€ 26.131,44).
